NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME
Is a national community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships. This year the Crime Commission has partnered with The Community-Police Relations Foundation to provide 600 book bags, bag tags and emergency whistles to the 2025 Night Out event in Broward hosted by the Broward Sheriff’s Office at their Cooper City headquarters.
NEW LAWS TO BE AWARE OF IN 2025
Amends F.S. 316.2397 (Certain lights prohibited; exceptions) by reclassifying the offense of unlawfully
operating a motor vehicle displaying a red, red and white, or blue light from directly in front of the vehicle from a 1st degree
misdemeanor to a 3rd degree felony.
Amends F.S. 320.061 (Unlawful to alter motor vehicle registration certificates, license plates, temporary
license plates, mobile home stickers, or validation stickers or to obscure license plates; penalty) by
reclassifying the application or attachment of a substance, reflective matter, illuminated device, spray,
coating, covering, or other material onto or around a license plate which interferes with the legibility,
angular visibility, or delectability of any feature or detail of the license plate or interfering with the ability
to record any feature or detail of the license plate as 3rd degree felony. It should be noted that the altering
of a license plate by any other means is still a non-moving traffic infraction. Effective Date: 7/1/25

The South Florida Crime Commission, Pompano Beach High School, and Pompano Beach Elk's Lodge 1898 have partnered to establish Operation Clothes Bank. Operation Clothes Bank will ensure students have access to essential supplies, from clothing to hygiene products.
